Our Vision
A Liberia that is free from extreme rural poverty.
Our Mission
Our mission is to invest in women entrepreneurs to end rural poverty in Liberia.
Why we exist
In rural Liberia, poverty is the norm. About 8 in 10 rural residents live below the national poverty line, compared with about 3 in 10 people in Monrovia (World Bank, 2016 data). Hunger is common: in rural areas, 63% of people could not afford enough food in 2016.
Women and youth carry much of this burden. They run most of the small trade and farming that feed rural families, yet few have the capital, training, or safe savings they need to grow a business. Only about 1 in 10 women and young people has a formal job.

“Before the JUTO program, I had to crack palm kernels to feed my family. Since JUTO came into my life, I now have a shop.”
“I was not able to do anything on my own. Through JUTO, I have my own farm today. I harvest beans and sell them to earn my own money, so I can provide food for my children.”
