Our program asks for patience. Each cohort takes two years, and we plan to follow up with families a year after they graduate to check that the gains have lasted. Much of that work sits beyond the one-year grants most organizations can offer.

So far, all of JUTO’s funding has come from a single funder. Planned gifts would help us build a steadier base: funds we can count on to keep mentors in the field, keep savings groups supported, and keep our promises to the families who join us, whatever happens to any one grant.

What is a planned gift?
A planned gift is one you arrange now, but that usually takes effect later; for example, a gift in your will or a gift of retirement or investment assets. It lets you support JUTO in a way that fits your wider financial and family plans.

Do I need a lawyer?
For a gift in your will, yes. Your lawyer or adviser can make sure your wishes are carried out and that the gift fits the law where you live.

What details will my lawyer need?
JUTO’s legal name, address, and registration number

Is my gift tax-deductible?
Tax rules differ by country. Please ask your own adviser.

Can I give from outside Liberia?
Yes. Contact us, and we will explain the options available where you live.

Can I say how my gift should be used?
Yes. You can leave a gift for our general work, which gives us the most flexibility, or talk to us about a specific purpose, such as the Year 2 expansion fund. Please speak with us first so we can make sure we are able to honor your wishes.

Can I change my mind?
Yes. A gift in your will can be changed at any time, as long as you update your will with your lawyer.

Should I tell JUTO about my gift?
You don’t have to, but we hope you will. It helps us plan, and it gives us the chance to thank you.

How will JUTO use my gift?
Your gift will support our two-year program for women entrepreneurs in rural Liberia. We report on our spending and results every year.
