Every gift to JUTO goes toward the same goal: a household in rural Liberia that can feed its children, keep them in school, and handle the next emergency on its own. In our pilot, about US$107 supported one person in an entrepreneur’s household. The average seed funding for each business was about US$300, and the full cost of training, funding, and mentoring one entrepreneur was about US$660. Our two-year program will cost more, because it gives each entrepreneur a second year of support.

Give through a donor-advised fund
If you hold a donor-advised fund, you can recommend a grant to JUTO through your fund’s sponsor.

Give by bank transfer or check
Donate through checks or wire transfer

Give stocks or other securities
Giving shares that have grown in value can be an efficient way to give, depending on your local tax rules.

Give from an Individual Retirement Account (IRA)
If you are 70½ or older and have a traditional IRA in the United States, you may be able to give directly from it through a qualified charitable distribution. The transfer must go from your IRA custodian straight to an eligible US charity.

Leave a gift in your will
A gift in your will lets you support women in rural Liberia beyond your lifetime. You can leave a fixed amount, a share of your estate or what remains after you have provided for your loved ones.

Give goods or skills
Some of what we need most is not money. Gifts that would help our work include:

  • Mobility or support for staff transport to help mentors reach remote communities, especially in the rainy season.
  • Smartphones or tablets for mobile data collection.
  • Professional help, such as audit and accounting, legal advice, monitoring and evaluation, and design.
